Shipping Policy

Due to laws that vary by country, we do NOT ship our products outside of the United States. We also are limited in shipping OTF products -- see our OTF Policy.

 

All orders are processed within 2 to 3 business days from purchase. Your credit or debit card is charged immediately when you purchase the item online.

We offer free shipping on all products shipped in the United States. We use USPS (and, for certain products United Parcel Service) for all of our shipping from Ellijay Georgia.  However, while USPS and UPS both are striving to maintain reliable delivery service, delays should be expected and the timing of delivery cannot be guaranteed. 

Check your email inbox for tracking information.  We will provide our customers with accurate order and tracking information. However, any further updates can only be provided by that shipper per direct request from the customer.

OTF Policy

NOTE: All information contained herein is intended as a brief summary of available information and should not be considered as legal advice. We suggest that you consult legal counsel if unsure of your specific situation.

Restrictions with respect to possession, carry, manufacture or sale of OTF knives (aka out-the-front, auto-open, automatic, switchblades, etc.) may apply in your state or locality. You are responsible for knowledge of and compliance with these laws and acknowledge this responsibility and your compliance for any purchases you make on our site.

Owltown Traders dba Owltown Knives complies with these laws based on our reasonable interpretation of the laws, and reliance on third-party resources that track state and local laws. We rely primarily on the American Knife and Tool Institute (AKTI.org) supplemented by a wikidot site on U.S. switchblade laws.

Based on these laws, we will not ship any purchases of products listed on our site as “OTF” to any states (or localities) that are known to prohibit their use.  We also do not ship outside the United States or to U.S. territories.

THESE STATES/LOCALITIES PROHIBIT AUTOMATIC KNIVES – WE DO NOT SHIP OTF KNIVES TO:

  • California (but will sell/ship if blade is under 2 inches)

  • Delaware

  • District of Columbia

  • Chicago, Illinois* (but will ship/sell if blade is 2.5 inches or less)

  • Minnesota

  • New Jersey

  • New Mexico

  • New York (there is a hunting/fishing exemption but are illegal for all other purposes)

  • Vermont (but will sell/ship if blade is under 3 inches)

  • Washington

Recent changes:

Effective August 2024, Massachusetts moved to the “not restricted” list based on a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision.

Effective May 2024, Hawaii moved to the “not restricted” list based on new legislation.

Effective January 2023, Pennsylvania moved to the “not restricted” list.

As the buyer and owner, you should be aware of any restrictions that may apply to your ownership or use in any state. 

IMPORTANT!

f you attempt to purchase an OTF Knife but live in the above states/localities, our site will list a $1,000 delivery fee. You should then delete this item from your cart. If you do not do so and follow through with the purchase, we will immediately refund your OTF purchase due to the the restrictions on OTF products in your locality / state.  We are working on identifying a better way to implement this restriction automatically. 

However, if you wish to purchase an OTF knife from us and believe it is legal to do so in your state/locality, but are being prohibited from such purchase by our website restrictions, please contact us with more information and we will research your specific circumstances.

Return & Refund Policy

30 DAY RETURN POLICY – FULL REFUND OR REPLACEMENT
- OWLTOWN PAYS RETURN SHIPPING

If you are returning a purchased item because it is a result of our error (e.g., an incorrect or defective item, etc.), you may return it by initiating a return within 30 days of delivery for a replacement or a full refund. We’ll also pay the return shipping costs.

If you need to return such an item, please Contact Us with your order number and details about the product you would like to return and why.  Indicate if you want a replacement or a full refund. We will respond quickly with instructions for how to return items from your order including sending a prepaid shipping label. You must ship the item to us within 14 days from your receipt of the return shipping label.  

We will process shipping of a replacement item within 2 to 3 business days of our receipt of the returned item, and our confirmation that the item was incorrect or defective. Note that in some cases, the replacement item may be similar but not identical to the original item purchased.

The timing of your full refund may take as long as four weeks or longer from when you give your package to the return shipper, taking into account shipping of the returned item and processing of the refund through our systems and your bank. We will begin processing of the refund upon our confirmation of the receipt of the returned item.

3-YEAR MANUFACTURING WARRANTY

Any item purchased from our website is subject to a 3-year manufacturing warranty. If within 3 years of purchase, the item is no longer in working order due to a manufacturing defect, Owltown Knives will provide replacement with the same or similar item. You will pay return shipping of the original purchased item.

We will respond quickly with instructions for how to return items from your order including sending a prepaid shipping label. You must ship the item to us within 14 days from your receipt of the return shipping label.

We offer a three-year guaranty on the manufacturing of all our products.  See details in our Return & Refund Policy.

COLLECTION OF DATA

We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website via the contact form or provide us in any other way. In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; e-mail address; password; computer and connection information and purchase history. We may use software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. We also collect personally identifiable information (including name, e-mail, password, phone, communications; mailing address); payment details (including credit card information), comments, feedback, product reviews, recommendations, and personal profile.

Customers may also receive communications via email for marketing purposes but may opt out at any time. These allow us to provide a more streamlined shopping experience and constantly improve our products and services.

All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PIC-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
